We love a good FAQ section. Here is everything (else) you wanted to know about working with us —
Yes! I design and develop sites in a sustainable and modular way, so that components and sections that I’ve built and customized can be utilized and recycled across the site as many times as you need them.
This is an intentional move away from the overly custom (read: expensive, difficult to execute and maintain), unsustainable sites that required a developer on retainer ($$$) to make changes. It also allows more custom solutions to be financially accessible to smaller brands and startups.
You will never have to re-hire me or another developer to create a new page unless you require a new feature or app integration, or if you needed a major redesign.
We love creative naming and have had some fun names for our offerings in the past, but ultimately we appreciate calling it like it is.
Big = custom deliverables, length of engagement, and price.
Little = fixed deliverables, length of engagement, and price.
Big packages are best suited to brands who are established in the marketplace, seeing consistent growth YoY, and have a very clear understanding of their product and audience.
Little packages are excellent starting points for brands who are just launching, have limited access to funding, or are small businesses/solopreneurs.
Many other studios and designers will tell you that launching with a highly custom brand and website is the only way to make an impact and we don't subscribe to that view at all. We like to champion launching with the MVP (minimum viable product) and iterating on that as you gain feedback and information from your customers. Thus, our client relationships tend to be over the long haul rather than one-and-done scenarios.
Big is a custom site. It doesn't have anything to do with page numbers (although a big site might require more pages), but rather the detail and depth of work. Here is where we strip our theme down to the studs and build everything up from scratch. We look at every corner of the site, every user experience. If you can dream it, we can do it (within the bounds of what's possible on the internet, of course).
A little Shopify site is considered semi-custom. We can still create some custom sections and functionalities, but there are going to be some universal features of the site such as the cart and filters that are more standardized and don't get that high touch. The bottom line here is being more intentional about where we apply customization to really move the needle on brand differentiation and user experience.
The short answer is no. We will set up your collections, product tags, and categories, along with one backend product to get you started. It will be up to you (or someone on your team) to duplicate or import your products and take the time to learn how your product ecosystem works.
Squarespace is more limited in customization capabilities than Shopify, so there is somewhat of an upper limit of what we can build on Squarespace. That doesn't mean that we can't create some beautiful Squarespace sites, it just means that our toolbox for Squarespace is a little leaner and therefore we need to approach those projects as a custom quote depending on what is needed.
Yes. We provide a payment link that allows you to select monthly installments, depending on how long your project is.
If you want a longer payment plan (6-12 months), we also offer Shop Pay installments with 0% interest. This option is run by Affirm and depends on a soft credit check, so we have no control over what payment terms are offered.
Once you have an understanding of our process and offerings, please use our contact form to submit an inquiry. If your project seems like it will be a good fit, we will send you a link to our calendar to book an intro call.
If you decide to move forward, here's what happens next:
If you are selecting a 'little' package, we will send you a link to the booking page for that service where you will be able to sign our project contract and complete your payment. We only have a limited number of these spots each month, and they do book quickly, so we encourage clients to plan ahead.
If you would like to book a 'big' package, we will create a custom proposal page for you that is password-protected right here on our Shopify site! You will be able to sign our contract and set up your payment plan right from that page.
We don't run our intro calls like sales calls, because all of our pricing and info is already on our website. In other words - we don't engage in value-based pricing and we're not going to check how deep your pockets are to see how much we can get away with charging.
It's more of a chance for you to ask questions, for us to get to know each other, and a general vibe check.
The short answer is no.
A lot of folks underestimate the power of branding in building a sophisticated website. A logo isn't even the most important element in web design - color combinations, typography curation, graphic elements, scale, these are all visual ingredients that go into creating a great website and should be part of a solid brand identity.
Quite frankly, spending thousands of dollars on a website without having a brand identity in place first would be throwing money down the drain. We don't want to see you do that.
If you do not have branding (or you DIY'ed your branding, or someone on Fiverr did it, or it's 10 years old...) we recommend starting with any of our brand identity offerings.
I typically book out 2-4 months, depending on the time of year. If we've already chatted I will have given you an indication of my current availability, but keep in mind that I do operate on a first-come, first-serve basis in order to be fair.
